Dear Toyota Prius Owner,
It has come to our attention that there may be a significant safety concern related to the above-mentioned Prius vehicles. We have identified that a number of Priuses have experienced a defect within the brake booster pump assembly. If this defect occurs, various warning lamps on the instrument panel made illuminate, you may experience increased stopping distance, reduced hydraulic pressure within your brake system, the deactivation of brake assist, and/or the deactivation of vehicle stability control.
Toyota has previously issued at least two safety recalls – D0H and K0L – designed to prevent similar dangerous occurrences. However, hundreds of thousands of generation III Prius vehicles (2010-2015 model years) were excluded from those safety recalls.
Our dealership has a moral and legal requirement to warn you about the potential for this brake defect to occur in your vehicle. Safety is our concern. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you and your families, but we believe you need to be aware of this serious condition. As an added precaution, we have removed these vehicles from our lot and issued a dealer-initiated “stop-sale.”
